EXCITING CHANGES TO COME!!!

Dick and I have made some big changes for the year to come!! We are downsizing to free us up to do the things we have always wanted to do ..... that is.... free to travel, spend more time together, follow His lead for new adventures, no more retail store after 27 years, more time with kids, but still MORE ART and probably some sewing classes for girls ..... that is a dream right now ..... but the ART won't stop, it will be here on the blog as soon as we finish remodeling our NEW/OLD smaller home about 20 miles away. SO STAY TUNED ... we'll be having a big sale and beautiful house and property SALE in the SUMMER!! MORE FREEDOM ON IT'S WAY!!! WooHoo!!! And THANKS for all your support the last twenty seven years in my shop!!!

BOO HOO! LAST PROJECT?...no it isn't!!

We have DO ANOTHER PROJECT I'll post next week, hopefully more pinwheels and diamonds.....but different!!!  YAY!!  LOVE THIS CLASS....Peyton loves her journal to take home!!  Grand daughter's journal with her art below!!

The brush was cut out then sewed on the page....everything in this journal is SEWN on....

The wonderful and fun class by Mary Ann Moss called SEWN has finished but what you learn continues and continues. SOOO.... With my grand daughter here we doodled five pages of card stock each. Then she picked the diamond and we cut them all out. Then she arranged them then I sewed them into her journal cover. Also I made her two signatures using all the scraps into inspiration pages for her to finish when she wants to paint or doodle.  She IS an artist...age seven and quite accomplished!!!  So here is another result of learning to sew paper!! Looks like I'll be saving a lot of mod podge since I now sew it all on the page!! Woo HOO!!! Thank you Mary Ann Moss!!!! Blessings to you!!

PROGRESS...FINALLY MY SEWN-LANTERN!!!

I am also adding the diamond shapes that Mary showed us how to do. Now they decorate the children's lockers in the messy art room.
The colors are so pretty and cheerful, it will light the way!! I had such a hard time coordinating the patterns and colors....I finally just grabbed a circle to sew and kept going.  I am thinking anything would work   I WOULD LOVE to cut out my painted flowers and zinnias and do a lantern with just leaves and those bright flowers!! Enjoy!!

IT'S HARD TO BEAT THE PINWHEEL!!! +

it is a backyard celebration of this class....with birds flying and banners too awaiting the guests!!

How it might look framed...hmmm?

Here is saluting the flag. I kinda cheated because in my search for memory panel pages I found an old print of a flag I did years ago to look like a pieced quilt. So I cut out the letters and stripes and blue section and it really needed to be brighter and bigger (spoiled by the pinwheel!) so I took my trusty Caran d Ache water soluble crayons and enhanced the dull colors. Then I cut out some little drawn and colored stars I made and sewed them on like I did the letters.  The balance of the arrangement is OFF but my sewing machine was so stubborn with this flag that I was just happy to get the letters on at all!!  I kept breaking needle and knotting thread!!  I am not thrilled with it but it's okay....maybe not using the old print. Would have been more funky!!  Happy flag day... June 14th!!!!  Enjoy!

IT IS ROUND AND ROUND YOU GO...

I just thought I'd show you what's been going 'round!  We have done our third or fourth project in a hoop!  I had a BIG hoop!  I added a button to the middle with the threads that were left as tails.  Next will be a memory sheet. Oooo it is late.....2:30am!  Yawn. Blessings. Enjoy!!

DO I CUT IT?!?? YES...YES...I DID!!!

How do you like my new brush cleaning jar!?  On sale at TJ Max. 4.00!  The lid screws on plus you can't knock it over!  Love it!
This is before I did the last cutting!

It rained all day and I was anxious to continue to create some art. But my work area became so crowded I was knocking things over, so  I decided to clean up for the week of more SEWN Classes coming up....and in cleaning that area of boxes still packed from our move  I found old wallpaper and lots of my old art and doodlings  I can use in paper fabric making and also to put into my visual journals!!  So cleaning was productive and I added onto this piece.  Which now I am going to cut into three strips and rearrange!! There are old local postcards and my art plus vintage paper but mostly just painted papers. Enjoy! And blessings to you!
An old frame that MIGHT work on this one....would like to add some big words on top.....thinking!!

REVIVED WITH ART!!!

This afternoon was productive and quiet with no little visitors. It rained so everyone stayed home which gave me much time to play with more painted patterns, arranging, picking colors etc. I am supposed to cut them again, but like them now,  BUT DO I OBEY the teacher?....I do want a star on my paper! Ha....The lampshade is still where it was for another day but these things I cut and sewed today has ideas popping into my head!!  Enjoy!!
