EXCITING CHANGES TO COME!!!

Dick and I have made some big changes for the year to come!! We are downsizing to free us up to do the things we have always wanted to do ..... that is.... free to travel, spend more time together, follow His lead for new adventures, no more retail store after 27 years, more time with kids, but still MORE ART and probably some sewing classes for girls ..... that is a dream right now ..... but the ART won't stop, it will be here on the blog as soon as we finish remodeling our NEW/OLD smaller home about 20 miles away. SO STAY TUNED ... we'll be having a big sale and beautiful house and property SALE in the SUMMER!! MORE FREEDOM ON IT'S WAY!!! WooHoo!!! And THANKS for all your support the last twenty seven years in my shop!!!

DOODLING MY HEART OUT!!

Crayon resist....fun...above
I've joined a class called SEWN by the super creative Mary Ann Moss. She is at www.dispatchfromla.typepad.com if you want to join the class. I have loved taking her journal book building classes and cannot wait til this class starts.  We have a few hints, which is all I can give you....to paint patterns, lots of patterns, then get your scissors out!!! I'll show the end result at the end of summer, but you could be painting mindless ends and ends of patterns to cut up in joining her class that starts July 5th....with a bang!! I haven't done SERIOUS ART for a while, but have delighted myself with painting mindless colors, designs and shapes in bliss .... a friend talked about how she prays when she paints .... and WELL it is so true for me too, as it is a very intimate time with Him, thinking, discussing, solving and giving over! I guess that is why I am so desperate to paint with color!  I need the constant conversations with the Lord, like a garden chat with your DAD as you water the thirsty plants! I had those moments so often on my beautiful porch and in my garden in Round Top and am creating my wonderful spot here in my new smaller yard! AND in my cluttered full of stuff that delights my heart studio loft!! I think it will never be straightened .... not for long anyway!!  SOOOO .... here are some of the patterns I have been slapping onto paper to be cut up when class starts ... let your heart and imagination go with what Mary Ann Moss is going to share with us to do!! Have a BLESSED WEEK ....enjoy the color!
I LOVE these water soluable crayons above.....I'll add water to the color to make it look like watercolor....ONE THING....When you use watercolors, use GOOD watercolor paper or it ends up blotchy like these....but these will be cut up and I didn't want to waste my good paper....maybe I should have!!
The above picture was a stack of dvd movies, lean your head to the right to see it correctly!.....and what movies I like!

These are cheap paints, but when you use good brands you get prettier colors!!

THIRST...for God

"THIRST" is the last in this series of Be Attitudes until I finish the next set. These have been so pleasant to do...."Like conversations with God." I keep thinking, WHAT is so special about them or doing them?! It is the relaxing flow of play with shapes, color, words ...like making mud pies when I was little....and the whole time I'm having those quiet conversations with God in my head. It is a wonderful time .... sometimes until 5AM!!! Sometimes when I'm in that mode, so engrossed in the play that I have ceased to exist for the world until it is finished and then I show it and say....Here I am!! And then I play catch up with sleep, chores and business all the while dreaming of the next window of time to get to go the spot (my studio) where I make "mud pies" (art!) again....til whatever hour!!..... I like the peaceful look on "THIRST'S FACE"....the words come from "The Beattitudes" in the Sermon on the mount....in MATTHEW 5...verse 6. We are anxious for Spring as I am sure everyone is.... Please pray for my friend GRACE, who lives in New Zealand with a heavy heart for her country and people after the horrible earthquake. What IS EASTER... REALLY? Is it about God's only Son paying the price to set us free...I mean really free even beyond death and suffering? Free for Eternity. Seems much more clear and special these days. Just contemplating....The Passion of Christ is graphic, but it is what He endured for all of us....not one people or person completed the fulfillment of God's Word...we all did and fulfilled God's plan. You can read all about it in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the New Testament. Or simply John 3:16,17. Have a blessed and grateful week!! Easter season or resurrection day is the biggest gift of all!! Enjoy!

TIME FOR SOME PLAY...

A busy week up until tonite....or should I say this morning!....since it is 4AM!! BUT...after watching a video from our GUT ART CLASS on tracing paper....I had to go up to the studio to play! It has been too many days since I last got my hands on some art supplies. This was just a drawing I had that I didn't like but used it to experiment with stamped tissue paper (I didn't have any tracing paper like the video suggested. It was nothing new, but just the right ingredients to play a little. I used Derwent aquarelle pencils, then applied stamped tissue paper with gel medium, then dried it, then played with the color using Caran D Ache water crayons. Just simple , but simply fun and wonderful feeling to play with color freely creating. Also I had two new visitors come to my house for a vacation!! They are cousins....Stanley and Stanley! ....yes, they have the same name! ....Even their first name which is FLAT!!....yes, FLAT STANLEY...'s are here for only a week! They can't get over all the interesting junk and old stuff I have in this house!! One of them climbed up on our old Ohio Buck deer head for a picture, then the cousin Flat Stanley got all excited that I had a toy antique house that he almost fit in!! THEN, Stanley discovered an antique doll chair that he fit perfectly in!! These guys kept me pretty busy taking all those photos!! I told them I had to work a little, so they sat by me while I sewed Montsey's curtain for her room and the other Stanley just had to pose in front of my art! He thinks I'm famous....I get a giggle out of that. I actually like having them around, does my ego....uh, I mean my HEART good! Tomorrow they are going to the garden with Mr Peck and I to check on the newly planted vegetables....they will get to ride the golf cart, my garden vehicle....Flat Stanley thinks he will get to drive....we'll see. Then they can give the miniature donkey and little cow an apple to eat. No, they won't ride the donkey, as he is not trained for Flat Stanleys. I'm glad they came together to entertain one another .... they are cousins you know! Dick promised them a ride in the 1946 Piper Cub too....it will be a long afternoon I think.... Blessings to you all....and thanks to those fourth grade girls, Montsey and Angela, (they are cousins too!) for sending me their Flat Stanley to visit us!
