EXCITING CHANGES TO COME!!!

Dick and I have made some big changes for the year to come!! We are downsizing to free us up to do the things we have always wanted to do ..... that is.... free to travel, spend more time together, follow His lead for new adventures, no more retail store after 27 years, more time with kids, but still MORE ART and probably some sewing classes for girls ..... that is a dream right now ..... but the ART won't stop, it will be here on the blog as soon as we finish remodeling our NEW/OLD smaller home about 20 miles away. SO STAY TUNED ... we'll be having a big sale and beautiful house and property SALE in the SUMMER!! MORE FREEDOM ON IT'S WAY!!! WooHoo!!! And THANKS for all your support the last twenty seven years in my shop!!!

STARTING ON WALNUT ST ...

I'm learning how to make journals for painting and writing in.  I learned most of it so far in classes by Mary Ann Moss.  I had purchased this small watercolor that appears very old and it was very glued down to a heavy mat so I decide to make it into a journal cover.  I used some very old slightly brittle wall paper to make a border.  I had to put a clear medium on it to preserve it...the border.  The little painting has no date but has initials or name of "eng"  I think it is a lovely little watercolor!!  Kind of reminds me of a few of Van Gogh's drawn water colors with the loose and waves limbs but I am sure it is not his.  It does have oriental or Japanese style. But may be a local's effort too. Any way enjoy it and comment if you have any ideas about it!  I won't tell you how expensive it was...ha.  It has three numbers with a decimal way towards the left.  Did you guess five whole dollars?!  True and happy am I withy new journal cover.  Stay tuned for the finished product...Blessings!!

IT FITS NICELY in this antique frame...hmmmm that might have been a better thing to do!!

Yes, we've been inspired by another artist teacher and well on our way to more creativity and ideas. With new ideas swimming in my head here are a few goodies found around local shops with old stuff that I plan to use someway in new visual journals. Thank you Mary Ann Moss for your artistic mind and direction in the journaling process.  I've learned so much!  Also here are the cards I made "mail art" to mail to each member of our class exchange.  And a book I found of old stencils.  And albums to turn into journals etc.  The fabric is old and beautiful. Was that Mary Ann in the buggy on her way to Amsterdam?!  That trip will mean a new class I hope!!! God's blessings to you. Enjoy!

PLAYING WITH COPIC MARKERS...

I bought some COPIC sketch markers last year or two ago and didn't like how dark they were, so I packed them away!  Mary Ann Moss of dispatchfromla.typepad has been talking about them and uses them in her beautiful work!  So I retried them and really like the very light colors I have and will order a few more!! You can layer the colors building deeper, mixed or toned down colors. Which paper to use is another post completely and I am researching that.  I have used regular sketch paper/90lb here. Hope you enjoy this.  The quote was on one of my very favorite artists and past teachers called MYSTELE.

The Initials AMP stands for Amplified translation....of that particular proverb. I like the way it reads....

DIAMONDS AND BOO BOO LANTERN

This pieced wonder is kind of a doll with a gathered tissue skirt....all sewn!

ALMOST A LANTERN...BUT NOT QUITE!!!

Here is a roll of photos taken today. Trying to finish the last project although MUST design some kind of lantern that works!!  This effort is almost a lantern but a little quirky.  I used cheap patterned Wal Mart craft paper to experiment.  Eh!?  Anyway enjoy and stay tuned!!  Next week I think I may be going to VENICE.....a new class!  Check it out!!!
