EXCITING CHANGES TO COME!!!

Dick and I have made some big changes for the year to come!! We are downsizing to free us up to do the things we have always wanted to do ..... that is.... free to travel, spend more time together, follow His lead for new adventures, no more retail store after 27 years, more time with kids, but still MORE ART and probably some sewing classes for girls ..... that is a dream right now ..... but the ART won't stop, it will be here on the blog as soon as we finish remodeling our NEW/OLD smaller home about 20 miles away. SO STAY TUNED ... we'll be having a big sale and beautiful house and property SALE in the SUMMER!! MORE FREEDOM ON IT'S WAY!!! WooHoo!!! And THANKS for all your support the last twenty seven years in my shop!!!

EXCITING NEWS!!!

I know I haven't blogged or posted for a long time....truth is....I couldn't TOP what I wrote below about the "The Wind.... Being Still". Since that post God has ""been moving"" in big gentle giant steps! I am amazed once again how He works...... We have made the decision to downsize and MOVE to a smaller house and smaller yard and in the next town south in a real neighborhood!! We have always lived in the country and always worked really hard at taking care of all that we had. From fifty acres to 3 acres to a third of an acre!!! But we are SOOO ready for LESS to take care of. We have prayed, looked and prayed more.....and have purchased a smaller house on a corner in a neighborhood where I even know the neighbors!!! It is closer to the church, the grocery store and to the Doctors!! Forgot to mention that Dick will be closer to his playground at the airport too!! Another "project" always excites me....although I hope this one is smaller in nature. I will have a large room for my studio.....YAY!!!! ..... and for the kids when they visit.....they want some funky lockers with real locks for their stuff....I have agreed and they will have their very own spot in Mimi's new house!!! I have always heard that saying that "LESS IS MORE".....and I am loving the sound of it!!! It will free me up to just "BE" and have more time with people and with my passion of ART and SEWING. Hopefully some teaching will take place there too!! ....maybe! GREENPECKS will remain open physically here at the shop in Round Top until the house sells and then business will be from the next house....which will be announced later. It is antique weeks, now thru Oct 2, here in Round Top, with many people in the fields during the favorite buying venue of the year. So we have been pulling things from the attics in the house and garage and selling and even giving away!!! IT FEELS SOOO GOOD!!!! "The Apothecary", on the square in Round Top purchased THE ROUND TOP COLLECTION inventory and has moved it "up" town, one block away where it soo deserves to be .....! I read the post below with the "quilt" and can see that He, GOD, heard my heart's desire....again!!!! Now, back to humming praises and packing more stuff to sell or give away!!! Blessings and Thanks on this day!!! Will return soon!!!

I LOVE RED ... and COWS!

It is one week before our people come to our Bed and Breakfast to begin selling at the Round Top Antiques Fair ....two whole weeks of it!! So I will post a a few quick fun things before I get too busy. First is ... yes... I like ...LOVE .... red! And two RED treasures I found this week are posted here. The first is the RED BANDANA BUCKETS, which I will use for our big 4th of July Celebration, I found them on Saturday at the Jersey Barnyard's Gift Shop, an absolutely precious place to take children and big kids too!! Here is their website .... www.texasjersey.com....if you want to experience a heart warming effort to show real country life with dairy cows, goats, chickens, rabbits...feed the baby calves and experience the real life on a farm...even a hay ride to the dairy ... yes a dairy where they get your milk to be exact! And you get to meet "Belle"... the famous Bluebelle Ice Cream Cow you have seen on commercials. It is worth it I promise!! ... and as we were leaving ...the gals were going to do all the feeding!! The next RED thing that I found is the little feed sack dress my own precious Mother hand made for me when I was about 1 year old or less, now I'm 63! I have cherished it for so long and want to frame it some way . Do you see that she hand embroidered little flowers on the front (she taught me to embroider and sew) and then she even picked two little heart shape buttons for the back. As I look at these pictures I imagined her sewing them on and it is still the same thread she used. I just wanted to share my red things for the week! Then I am posting some pictures of our Grand daughter feeding the animals at the Jersey Barnyard .... I won't show it all...you need to go there... it was a perfect day!!! Spring is here!! We live in such a blessed nation and I hope you will all take it in and appreciate all the hard work of our ancestors ..... that made it what it still is to this day. Don't miss our rich heritage, cherish your freedom and share it with others ..... God's Rich Blessings to you all! Happy Spring!!! ....I told you ... the Pioneer Woman has done something to me.....takes me back to the good times.

MORE FELT CUPCAKE PIN CUSHIONS....WHILE FOOT HEALS!

More rolling the foot on a bottle of FROZEN WATER (wonderful).... and stretching excersizes ..... seems to be working for plantar faciatis ... if that is in fact what I have!? This sitting to rest the foot has been boring accept for the hand sewing of the pin cushions and some good reading. So here are a few more pin cushions I created. The angular one is a copy of an antique one I have and it consists of five squares of each fabric design. My squares were almost three inches and that makes a really big pin cushion.... so you may want to make them two inches or one and a half! The red heart with old buttons is one I had started at least fifteen years ago, so I finished it. And that is what we made in Girl's Club last week. We had to sit in the sanctuary of the church because the A/C is broken in our bigger fellowship room, so the heart pin cushion was the easiest thing to make sitting on pews. Next week hopefully the A/C will be fixed because we have all those mermaid outfits to make for our Groovy Girl Dolls ... and believe me ... they are all excited about that one!! The "Oh Solo Mio" pin cushion was inspired by a friend who loves music and is an artist, the girl that has done some barrel racing in Texas and has a famous brother in California....TEEHEE! These cup cake pin cushions have been a hit in the shop! Two are gone in one week .... so at least sitting I have produced SOMETHING ..... a teenage girl had to have one for her room!! She loves cupcakes.... it was the orange topped one on the previous post and the one with the leaves is gone as well. I may not have to put them on Etsy after all! There just isn't enough time in the day to do all I have lined up to create and paint ... boohoo! I have been going through stuff to sell at the Barn/Estate SALE that we are going to have in Round Top, Tx the weekend of Aug 28th, Fri and Sat...all day. I have gleaned things that don't mean much to me, like my Roseville collection, a chair or two, windows, doors, dishes, Raggedy Ann Dolls, antique stuff, old Needlework Magazines from 1923, etc. So come to the sale if you want some treasures from the past..... we'll have a small tent in the yard and maybe some lemonade!! Heal foot, heal foot..... thank you, Jesus!!

A Year Ago...A Special Guest...

One year ago in January "us girls" had a special surprise birthday for our long time friend Linda....who had lived away for almost ten years...then moved back to Texas. She was very surprised....as her husband Rich (his idea!) and her Mother and Father from Brenham kept the secret making their way to our area to treat them to a special restaurant...hahaha...when they came to pick us up...the whole old gang of friends were hiding in the house....I thought she was going to end up on the floor she was so surprised....it was a special day laughing and remembering how we had all met and how we had helped with each one's kids growing up....etc. The reason I am posting this is to honor her as a friend and to HONOR her Father, J.F. and Mother, Bonnie and her family...but mainly because her Father went home to be with the Lord a few weeks ago. No matter how many years our parents live it is always hard to lose them....we've had them around so long....and we are comforted by their unconditional love and presence....at least that is true for Linda and Rich and their family. We will miss J.F. and how his eyes lit up when he was with his family....he and Bonnie...he was a sweet Father and husband and friend to my Father....Happy Birthday Linda(coming up soon), on a sadder note....but I just wanted to share what a special DAD you had and what a special friend you and Rich are...both! We will remember your Dad with fondness....and pray for comfort for your Mom and the family who loved him so much.

Snake Be Gone!

I finally got rid of that big chicken snake!!! It was a little cruel, but my baby chicks were going to be the third dinner course after all the eggs that snake swallowed....so I had to do what I had to do...we won't go into detail.....anyway, the girls are happy again sitting on some freshly laid eggs...and the two baby chicks are happy scratching in the mud. It's scarey what we'll do to protect our chickens!!! Us "city cousins" would visit our Grandparents farm in the summer.....and we thought it was great fun to gather all the eggs in the hay barn....blow out the egg and then throw them at our uncles when they would pass by to start the milking.....boy were we surprised when we were marched to Grandma with a lecture about eggs being valuable food! I guess we learned our lesson!! Now I kill snakes that try to get my eggs! Better watch out!
